Global leading certification company SGS audited the AI startup

  • ISO/IEC 42001 is the first international standard for AI management systems and is intended to ensure the responsible development and use of AI systems

  • Xayn develops Europe's first sovereign Legal AI Noxtua

  • SGS is the world's leading inspection, testing, and certification company

BERLIN, December 17, 2024 – Xayn becomes the first German company to receive ISO/IEC 42001 certification, which ensures the responsible development and use of AI systems. The world-leading inspection company, SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance), certified Xayn, the developer of Europe's first sovereign legal AI, Noxtua, for compliance with the ISO/IEC 42001 standard. SGS has experience in the process of the new ISO/IEC 42001 certification, having already conducted the first ISO/IEC 42001 certifications in China and the EU.

The new ISO/IEC 42001 certification defines the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving AI management systems (AIMS). ISO/IEC 42001 provides a certifiable framework in which AI systems can be developed and deployed as part of an AI security ecosystem. The standard sets the cornerstones for the ethical implementation of AI systems and ensures fairness, transparency, and digital privacy protection. The goal is to support companies in complying with legal standards and innovations within a structured framework while strengthening trust in AI applications.

Leadership through responsible AI

Xayn meets the high requirements of this new global standard and has already successfully introduced the management system, as confirmed by SGS's audit.

SGS auditor Nina Ugrinoska emphasized Xayn's commitment after the successful completion of the audit: "The company's management system is excellently documented. The processing of agreements with regard to compliance was carried out extremely quickly, with very precise evaluations and comments being made that show exactly what is required. Particularly noteworthy is the strong commitment of management: The CEO was present throughout the entire audit. He knows the system down to the last detail and was extremely competent and knowledgeable."

"Responsibility and AI go together for us at Xayn. To demonstrate that this is not just talk for us, we also take the further step of certifications. We are very pleased with the smooth certification process with SGS – and that we are taking a pioneering role as the first German-founded company to successfully complete the certification process," explains Dr. Leif-Nissen Lundbæk (CEO & Co-Founder Xayn).
