  • Legal professionals can use Noxtua to analyze, review, summarize and translate legal documents in a legally compliant manner.

  • GDPR-compliant Legal AI meets stringent legal requirements to protect professional secrecy

  • Noxtua is the sovereign, secure European alternative to US AI tools

BERLIN, July 18, 2024 The Legal AI Alliance for Europe's first sovereign Legal AI Noxtua welcomes the copyright and trademark law firm NORDEMANN as a new partner. AI startup Xayn and renowned international law firm CMS launched the Legal AI Alliance in February 2024 to drive the development of an independent European Legal AI. Members of the alliance contribute legal texts for AI training and thus play an active role in the further development of European AI.

Noxtua is Europe's first sovereign Legal AI and consists of its own Legal Language Model and the Legal Copilot. The specialized AI was developed by Xayn and CMS and is characterized by legal expertise and compliance. With the Noxtua chatbot, users from law firms and companies can analyze, review, summarize, translate, and write legal texts.

The law firm NORDEMANN strengthens the Legal AI Alliance and enriches Noxtua with additional expertise in copyright and trademark law. In the coming months, the alliance will continue to expand with additional partners and Noxtua will continue to grow.

Specialized AI as a success model

"Legal advice requires highly specialized and legally compliant AI solutions, not 'off-the-shelf' AI," emphasizes Dr Leif-Nissen Lundbæk (CEO and Co-Founder of Xayn). "Noxtua solves the fundamental problems of other AI products on the market, such as insufficient data protection, lack of legal expertise and timeliness. This has often prevented legal professionals from using generative AI in a legally compliant manner. We are therefore pleased to have gained another specialized partner in NORDEMANN."

"We have been working intensively on the legal classification of AI systems and AI output for a long time. At the same time, we strive not only to use tools ourselves in our work, but also to contribute to their development. With our many years of experience, especially in copyright and trademark law, we can contribute distinctive expertise that will optimize Noxtua," explains Prof. Dr Jan Bernd Nordemann (Co-Founder and Partner of NORDEMANN, Certified Copyright and Media Lawyer as well as Certified Industrial Property Rights Lawyer). "As an independent and legally compliant generative AI from Europe, Noxtua is exactly the solution that many lawyers have been waiting for. As an innovative law firm, we want to help shape the future – which is why we are delighted to be part of this pioneering Legal AI Alliance."

"With each qualified new partner in the Alliance, Noxtua becomes more powerful," explains Dr Markus Kaulartz (Partner at CMS Germany, lawyer specializing in AI). "We are pleased that NORDEMANN has joined the Legal AI Alliance as a new partner, which will help strengthen the product's competitive advantage with additional legal training data."

Noxtua: legally competent and compliant

Europe's first sovereign Legal AI is legally competent and up-to-date because it is trained in short training cycles with legal texts labeled by legal experts. As a result, the language model and the legal copilot are specialized in the legal context and capable of performing legal tasks. This minimizes the risk of hallucinations. NORDEMANN is now increasing the amount of data Xayn uses to train the Noxtua legal language model. To this end, legal experts are selecting and annotating additional legal texts, particularly from the areas of trademark and copyright law, which will help the AI to deal with legal issues even more competently and accurately.

The GDPR-compliant AI solution is also legally compliant, as it meets the high requirements for the use of services according to Section 43e BRAO (German Federal Code for Lawyers) and the protection of professional secrecy according to Section 203 StGB (German Criminal Code). The Noxtua Legal Copilot is therefore an independent and secure European alternative to US offerings.

More practical applications in the works

Lawyers and other users from law firms or corporations can use Noxtua through the interface or integrate it into their own systems via API. In addition to the chat feature, other practical applications and features will be added to the Noxtua Copilot in the coming weeks. These include an add-in for Microsoft Word that will allow legal professionals to work with Noxtua directly in their familiar Office environment. In addition, the Legal AI Alliance is growing as a collaboration with several large corporations, law firms and accounting firms.

Law firms and companies that want to benefit from the advantages of generative AI in a legally compliant way, or that want to join the Legal AI Alliance, can contact us directly via the website.
